Celebration of Married Life on Saturday 16th May , there will be a special Celebration Mass for Married Life at Leeds Cathedral at 12 Noon for couples and their families celebrating their 25th (Silver), 40th (Ruby), 50th (Golden), 60th (Diamond) and 70th (Platinum) wedding anniversaries this year. There will be an opportunity for couples, who wish to do so, to renew their marriage vows during the liturgy. If you are celebrating the anniversary of your wedding and you would like to take part in this celebration, please fill out the application form which is available at the back of church.

World Day of Prayer

A women led, global ecumenical movement – annually first Friday in March Friday 6th March at 2pm at St Mary’s RC Church, Bond End, Knaresborough . Our sisters in Nigeria invite us to join them for the World Day of Prayer. The service they have prepared reflects the theme, “I will give your rest”. 120 participating countries will be celebrating this service on the same day. It begins in Samoa and moves across the world in a continuous wave of prayer, finishing 38 hours later in American Samoa. It truly is a worldwide day of prayer. The World Day of Prayer is an international women-led ecumenical movement that shares the hopes, concerns and prayers of women from around the globe. Each year women from a different country craft a service, sharing their unique spiritual journey and culture. For 2026 the women of Nigeria have created a service that speaks to our need for peace and solace, drawing on their faith and experiences in a world filled with struggles and anxieties. This is the first time for more than 10 years that St Mary’s have held the service - next year it will be held at St John’s CofE. Please support us. Refreshments will be served in the Hall following.

We are joining the Diocesan Pilgrimage to Walsingham. The coach will leave Harrogate at about 6.15am arriving in time for Mass at 12 noon followed by procession along the Holy Mile and Benediction in the Abbey grounds. We will return to Harrogate about 10pm. Packed lunch will be needed, and we are hoping to plan a stop for fish and chips at the seaside on our return journey. The church will be open from 5pm – 6:30pm on Friday 13th and on Saturday 14th from 9am, for willing volunteers to drop off cakes, buns and biscuits, or to help set up and volunteer on the big day. This is a real community event, and it would be great to have volunteers from both St Marys and St Aelred’s parishes, to forge new friendships and support a great cause . Bishop Marcus was one of just two Bishops of England and Wales (the other being Archbishop John Wilson) required to attend the second session of the XVI Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops in Rome.
